Kisumu bus terminus that was closed nearly three months ago has been opened to motorists but with conditions.

Kisumu County Assembly Speaker Elisha Oraro who chaired the mediation between the bus park management and the county government says the conditions must be adhered to.

Oraro says they will be required to keep a manifest of all the passengers to help the government in contact tracing in case of any COVID-19 patient.

Speaking at the bus terminus when he officially reopened activities at the park, Oraro announced that makeshifts within the bus terminus will be removed.

Kisumu City Manager Doris Ombara who accompanied the Speaker says they responded to the cries of motorists who wanted to open the park.

Ombara says many people are relying on the bus stage for their survival thus the step to open the bus terminus.

She says a number of protocols were passed during the mediation which must be followed to the latter to curb the spread of the virus.

Ombara says the protocols to be followed include screening of passengers by checking on their temperatures.

She says the terminus will be opened to buses and matatus plying Nairobi route and will be accessing the park in turns.
