Police in Mbita sub County Homa- Bay County are investigating the cause of death of a 23 years old man whose decomposing body was found in a thicket at Ogongo Tir village, Ogongo Sub Location after he went missing about two weeks ago.

The decomposing body of Fred Omondi was found hanging on a rope on the top of a tree by a young boy who went to tether goats in a thicket few meters from their compound.

It’s reported that the deceased was last seen on November 6, and later disappeared to unknown place only to be found dead mysteriously today.

Senior Assistant chief of Ogongo sub location Margaret Aluoch David says that the deceased’s wife reported to the family that her husband left their house within Homa- Bay Town on 6th   but never came back home and efforts to trace his whereabouts bore no fruits because his mobile phone was switched off.

Margaret says that they have not established what could have caused his death despite his body was found hanging with a rope on his neck; they are suspecting that he could have committed suicide or killed and hang.

The body was removed at the scene by officers from Mbita police station to Homa-Bay mortuary awaiting postmortem as investigation continues.
