FISHERMAN KILLED BY A COLLEAGUE OVER FIGHT FOR FISHING SPACE

A fisherman aged 47 years in Ndegu beach, West Kochia location, Rangwe Sub-County in Homabay County has been killed by his fellow in a fight over a fishing space in Lake Victoria.

The fisherman identified as Taban Otieno Oteyo was attacked by his fellow as he was in the process of fishing where he hit his head with a paddle claiming that Taban had invaded his fishing space.

The late Oteyo is said to have gone fishing in Lake Victoria yesterday evening in the company of his three fellows. He was later attacked at around 8.30pm.

Confirming the incident, West Kochia location Chief Joseph Juma said that the incident has been reported to the police and investigations are ongoing. He added that the fishermen in the beach have been directed to start looking for the body.
