A TANKER OVERTURNS AT KASAGAM IN KISUMU

A tanker with 32000 litres of diesel overturns at Kasagam area in Kisumu County on its way to Ndhiwa from Kenya Pipeline Authority. The tanker turned at Kachok fly-over as it tried to join the highway from Kondele area.

The driver is reported to have escaped after the accident and upto now, his phone has remained switched off.

Different agencies including the NTSA,the Red cross,the fire rescue team and other officials led by the Kisumu County Commander,Samuel Anampiyu, are manning the area.

While addressing the media, the county commander has assured residents that he situation has been contained and that the tanker shall be lifted by a crane to clear the traffic for other road users.

He urged members of the public to always keep off in such areas and learn from the past experiences posed by siphoning fuel from tankers involved in accidents.

As at now, the tanker is spilling hundreds of litres of oil along the river upon which it landed.
