A human rights organisation known as Rarieda Social watch in Siaya county through its chairman Willis Ogolla Okendo says that the law that was recommending those found guilty of murder to be sentenced to death should be reintroduced as one way of reducing the rampant murder cases in the country.
Okendo says that scrapping off of the law has made people take their fellows’ lives without any care. Speaking to Sky fm in his office in Rarieda, Okendo says that murders should not be left free even through a fine before a court of law. He says that they should be jailed because they tend to interfere with the cases and justice is always not served. He goes on by saying that even government officials who are suspected to have commited such crimes should be removed from office.
Finally, he urged members of parliament to come up with laws that will ensure that laws are followed to the later and human rights are protected.
