IRREGULAR STAFF PAYMENT
Written by Dickens Ochieng on July 27, 2021
The County Government of Homabay is said to be having some unexplainable ways of paying its staff this year’s July salaries, where some staffs are paid higher amounts than their normal salary, while some have not yet received their salaries at all.
Such kind of payment have illicited different reactions from the Kenya Union of Civil Servants Homabay chapter as they say that this was done by the officers in charge of remitting salaries targeting particular people.
The Unions chairperson Tom Sketch says that some of the County’s civil servants were paid literally low amounts while some were not paid at all, something that is now raising alot of questions on the list used for remitting salaries. He said that the act is not good at all and they are not happy with the officers in charge.
He said that the civil servants were surprised last week when they went to their respective banks only to find alot of inconsistencies as a total of 3000 workers haven’t received their salaries.
Aketch therefore wants the county government to come out and explain the irregular trend in the remitting of salaries as soon as possible or else they will be forced to hold a demonstration to demand for their rights.
On the other hand, in a letter written by the officer in charge of salaries in the Homabay County Government Auma Modi to the civil servants, she admitted that there were inconsistencies but she has spoken to the respective banks to correct it.
