A middle aged suspected thief was today afternoon lynched by irate members of the public after he was caught red-handed while stealing from a house at Shark Villa estate in Bondo town.

The man who has not been identified is said to have been spotted by a neighbor while breaking into the window of that house before he (neighbor) raised an alarm.

According to the area residents, the man had already carried a 32 inch plasma TV and some other electronic gadgets in a sack and was leaving when he was caught up with and taken back to the compound of the house where he had allegedly stolen the items.

In the event, the mob increased before they ascended on the suspect with crude weapons beating him senselessly amid pleas for forgiveness.

His plea however fell on deaf ears after he refused to disclose his accomplices, forcing the angry members of the public to continue beating him to death before the police were called to the scene.

According Bondo sub-county Police Commander Roseline Chebosho who confirmed the incident, they found the suspect lifeless at the scene and  thereafter moved the body to Bondo sub-county hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem and identification.

She however cautioned members of the public against taking the law into their own hands, noting that they should always hand over arrested suspects to the police instead of mailing them which is against the law.
