A middle aged fisherman fell into Lake Victoria and drowned on Tuesday evening when he was with his fellow fishermen going on with their fishing activities. As he was trying to set his bait, he fell and drowned into the lake.

Confirming the incident, Bamgot Beach Management Unit Chairperson John Masasi, said that the fisherman identified as Gilbert Onyango Obuya was with his three fellow fishermen before the tragedy occured.

Masasi added that the fisherman drowned as he was lowering his nets and he was not seen again by his fellows who managed to escape during the incident.
He went ahead to plead with all fishermen to be careful during fishing or while even aiming in the lake for such incidents not to occur. He said that at the moment, they have started looking for the man’s body, a man whom he said hails from Ndhiwa in Homabay County.
