Man Beaten to Death by Mob

Police in Rangwe sub-county are investigating the death of a middle aged man who was killed by a mob in Nyagoro centre.

Confirming the incident, Kochia East Location chief Salome Obok said that the 30 year old man whose name hasn’t been identified, was lynched by netizens at around 3.30 am Wednesday morning after they were found stealing from a shop in Nyagoro centre.

Chief Salome said that the man was among a gang of other thieves who managed to escape using a probox which they were using in the robbery. She confirmed that the thieves managed to escape with alot of properties that they stole from two shops.

She went ahead to request netizens to refrain from taking the law in their own hands and take people’s lives since such people can also help in investigations. She advised traders in different centres to ensure that they employ enough security at night.

The man’s body was transferred to Homabay Referral Hospital Mortuary awaiting postmortem.
