Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has officially joined the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party. Joining UDA party comes after few weeks of hearsays that she was to ditch Jubilee party.

There have been several claims on social media that she was to leave Jubilee party and join UDA in order to defend her gubernatorial seat come 2022 after speculations from political pundits that the governor would have lost her seat if she attempted to defend it under the Jubilee Party.

Governor Waiguru made the decision based on her constituents’ needs saying she had sought intervention before concluding. “I have asked if it is betrayal if I moved. But the message I have gotten is that you must be careful to stay relevant in politics” She said.

Reports from people close to DP Ruto also indicated that Waiguru was joined by Members of the Kirinyaga County Assembly who previously supported the move

DP Ruto welcomed Waiguru and said he was proud that the governor had joined him.

We looked into the claim and confirmed to be true.
