IEBC Fails to Meet Their Target in Migori

Voter registration exercise in Migori County ended officially yesterday at a time when the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) was targeting to register more voters though so many people did not come out to register as only 36,452 new voters have been registered in the county.

Speaking to Sky FM, the Migori County IEBC coordinator Charles Mutai said that a majority of the people did not come out to register as voters. He said that they were able to register only 36,452 people, led by Kuria West with 6,268, Nyatike 5,107, Suna West 4,829, Uriri 4,641, Rongo 4,593, Suna East 4,131, Kuria East 3905 and Awendo 2,987.

In Migingo Nyatike sub-county, there was a target of registering 20 new voters but only 11 were registered. Speaking to Sky FM, officer in charge of voter registration in Nyatike sub-county Nevil Okumu said that they did not meet their target since most of their target audience failed to turn up for registration.
