Widows Appeal For Their Rights

About 350 widows from Karachuonyo constituency in Homabay County have requested the national and county governments to help them get their rights that they have been denied for a long time.
Led by their chairperson Monica Achieng Milama, they said that as widows, they have been going through several challenges mostly brought about by their brothers in laws, who have been grabbing their land and their husbands’ properties. They also said that the government set aside funds for youths, the elderly and women, whereas they as widows, they have been sidelined without anybody caring about them.
They urged their MP to table a motion in parliament to ensure that funds are allocated for them by the government. They finished by saying that since they started their Self Help Group, they have been helping themselves through loans and sharing of ideas, as they urged the government to help them boost their group.
