A woman was charged by the Mbita Law Courts for forcing a 12 year old girl to abort her eight months old pregnancy in Mbita town, Mbita sub-county two weeks ago. The woman identified as Esther Anyango is said to have forced the class seven child to conduct an abortion, contrary to the constitution of Kenya.

Odundo was charged with two accounts, including causing the death of the unborn eight months foetus and also using other people to ensure that the girl conducted a forceful abortion. According to witnesses given before the court, the woman took the girl to Mbita sub-county hospital to buy drugs that could help in abortion.

Senior Magistrate Nicodemus Moseti slapped her with a Kshs. 200,000 cash bail after denying the charges before the court. He also ordered for the girl to be given maximum security at the Homabay children centre for one year. The case will be heard again Tuesday next week.
