Homabay County government has promised to dedicate Ksh. 50 million in it’s 2022/23 financial year budget to the fight against cancer across the county. This was said by the county governor Cyprian Otieno Awiti as he officially opened Empower Cancer Centre that has been built at the Homabay County Referral Hospital, a project that was initiated by the county’s first lady Rosila Awiti.
He went ahead to say that the centre will be of great benefit to Homabay residents in fighting cancer, that they have been seeking its treatment in other neighbouring counties. He urged the residents to always take their children for vaccination against cancer and also avail themselves for cancer screening.
The event was attended by first ladies of other counties such as Homabay County lady Rosila Awiti, Siaya County first lady Rosela Rasanga, Migori County first lady Hellen Obado, Kakamega county first lady Priscila Oparanya, Makueni County first lady Nancy Kibwana and Kisii county first lady Elizabeth Ongwae.
