Employment and Labour Relations High court in Kisumu has suspended the decision by a section of HomaBay county assembly MCAs to remove from office two MCA representing them in the County assembly service board.
Hon. Jeff Ongoro and Hon. Richard Ogindo of Kwabwai ward were ousted by fellow MCAs and the court has ordered their reinstatement until the matter is heard and determined.
Richard Ogindo who spoke to the press after the court order said that the move by their colleagues was illegal and a witch-hunt. He said that the court directive is a reprieve from such illegalities being perpetuated by MCAs who are pursuing their own interests.
On his part, Central Karachuonyo ward MCA Julius Gaya who is the budget and appropriation committee chairperson said that he has written to the controller of budget after the MCAs decided to extend the life of the assembly with another three weeks illegally.
Gaya went ahead to say that those who toppled their colleagues had lost the ODM party nominations and are planning a comeback through Independent ticket.
