Three Fishermen Injured Over A Boundary Conflict At Litare Beach, Suba-North.

Three fishermen from Litare beach in Suba North sub-county Homabay county were seriously injured following an attack by some fishermen from Rusinga island due to wrangles over fishing boundaries in Lake Victoria.

The three were attacked by their fellows from Wanyama beach in Rusinga island yesterday night. According to Felix Abonyo who is a fisherman at Litare beach, the boundary was demarcated by fishermen from Wanyama beach after holding a secret meeting some days ago.

Abonyo said that the fishermen who were many in number caught them unawares and injured them. He went ahead to state that three of their boats as well as other fishing equipment were stolen by the said fishermen.

On his side, Rusinga West location chief Denis Okello confirmed the incident stating that indeed the fishermen were attacked by their fellows.
