FALSE: Hussein Mohamed is not the new government spokesperson

A tweet claiming that former Citizen TV news anchor Hussein Mohamed has been appointed as the new government spokesperson, replacing Cyrus Oguna is FALSE.
Hussein Mohamed is the State House Spokesperson and not government spokesperson.
The posts published on October 14, 2022 was accompanied by a photo of Hussein and a caption that reads: “Hussein mohamed is the government spokesperson replacing Cyrus oguna.”
We did some digging and established that Hussein’s name was among presidential appointees made in October 2022, but he was not appointed as a government spokesperson as alleged in the post we are fact-checking.
According to a statement by State House Kenya, Hussein was appointed as State House Spokesperson, taking over from Kanze Dena.
“The Head of State appointed Hon Josphat Koli Nanok (Deputy Chief of Staff), Mr David Mugonyi (Head of Presidential Communication Service) and Mr Hussein Mohamed (State House Spokesperson),” reads a statement shared by State House Kenya.
Additionally, a tweet by Hussein confirms his appointment and thanks President William Ruto for appointing him.
Prior to his appointment, Hussein served as the communications director at President William Ruto’s 2022 presidential campaign team.
