A video posted on Facebook alleging that Kenyan Lawyer Miguna MIguna was attacked in Kisumu during his homecoming is FALSE.
A video was brought to the attention of the public claiming that renowned lawyer Dr Miguna Miguna who jetted back to Kenya on 20 October 2022 after four years in exile was roughed up and chased in Kisumu during his homecoming event on 28 October 2022.
The video that has since gone viral on Facebook shows Dr Miguna Miguna being whisked away by security officers from the jaws of an angry mob.
However, a keyword search on YouTube led us to this video this video published by Citizen TV on 25 August 2012. The video, which is titled “Miguna Roughed Up in Mombasa”, was recorded at ROYALE HOTEL in Mombasa where Dr Miguna was promoting his book titled ‘’PEELING BACK THE MASK’’.
A screengrab of the original video which was published by Citizen TV Kenya.
The charged crowd claimed the book was misleading and defamed the then Prime Minister Raila Odinga whom they believed in so much hence the squabbles seen in the video.
The use of this video to allege that the happenings took place during Miguna’s recent visit is therefore misleading and false.
