Kenya’s Nthenya Macharia Becomes First Female Board Chair Of Youth For Christ International In 80 Years

Kenya’s Nthenya Macharia has made history after she was elected as the new board chair of Youth for Christ International making her the first woman to hold the position in 80 years.

Nthenya was elected during a May 3 Youth for Christ International Board Meeting and replaces Howard Stevenson who finished his term.

“We are thrilled to announce that Nthenya Macharia has been elected as the new Board Chair of Youth for Christ International. Notably, Nthenya is the first female to hold this position in our 80-year history,” said the organisation’s International Director Dave Brereton.

Nthenya is a certified Image Master where she coaches “leaders to craft their personal and business brands, ensuring they leave a lasting legacy.”

“Beyond her professional achievements, Nthenya is a proud mother of two boys, whom she and her husband, Paul, cherish deeply,” reads a statement from Youth for Christ International.

Nthenya first interacted with Youth for Christ as a teen when she used to attend meetings with her siblings.

After high school, she joined a gap year program, known as Action Group and subsequently toured the United States with G21 and Shuhuda Music Group. In 2016, she joined the Youth for Christ international board and became the vice chair in 2018.

“Nthenya has played a pivotal role in organizing and planning Youth for Christ events in the region, showcasing her dedication and leadership. In 2016, she joined the Youth for Christ International Board, and her commitment and vision earned her the position of Vice Chair in 2018,” says Brereton.
