Homabay Law court launches a process of solving cases outside the court though mediation in the court annexed mediation with an aim of reducing jams in court cases.

While speaking during the launching ceremony, Justice Kiarie Waweru said some cases are just petty and should be dealt with at the annexed mediation or through the village elders

This was supported by Justice Jecinter Orwaa of Homabay Law Courts who lauded the progress made in the judiciary; Homabay branch which she says will maintain the state of peace in the region and will see the residents using little resources in solving their cases unlike in the court which she says seems to be so expensive.

“ when a couple have differences they are able to sit themselves down and solve their issue without coming to the judiciary. In case one of them gets upset and reports the matter to the police there is still room for relenting and withdrawing the case and the file gets closed completely after they will have negotiated and come to terms.”

Nancy Nyarige, who is also the chair of advocates Homabay Branch also strengthens this by saying they embrace the creation of the annex.

She further urged her colleagues to take part in some other law related trainings to ensure that they become qualified mediators in the society.

“ We as advocates are embracing the same and we are encouraging our members to go for these trainings to be accredited as certified mediators to be able to get more work and also to assist the public so it’s a very positive thing that has come and we are embracing it and we hope we will be able to assists the public on the same.” Said Nancy Nyarige.
