House Help Charged After Stealing Ring Worth Ksh 683,000 and Selling It At Ksh 4,000

A house help has been charged with stealing a gold ring worth Sh683,000 from her boss in Runda, Nairobi County.
The 28-year-old suspect Violet Ndukwe Lijoodi told the court on Monday that she stole the ring belonging to Norah Mitchell.
Lijoodi pleaded with the court for mercy and leniency, saying she sold the ring at Ksh4,000 at Kawangware market in Nairobi.
Norah who is a nurse in Australia was on holiday and was staying with her relative at Runda Estate when the ring was stolen.
The suspect disclosed that she sold the gold ring to a second-hand dealer at Kawangware Market. She told the court that she sold the ring to foot medical bills for her ailing father and support her children.
Lijoodi was arrested on August 8, 2024, and was charged alongside Francis Mwima.
Mwima was released on a Sh 1 million cash bail, Lijoodi on the other hand will remain in custody until September 5 2024 when the court will issue a verdict.
