Mildren Adhiambo aged 30 years old is the founder and owner of the  Zamil Farms Ltd, a goat breeding farm located in Kisumu County.

Adhiambo started the farm in 2020 after extensive research online which helped her set up the business.

In a past interview, she revealed that she started the business after realizing the struggles that farmers and butchers in Kisumu were grappling with in search of goats.

She noted that she settled on the Galla goat breed as they have a large body and fetch more money compared to local goats.

“I can never be proud of myself enough for taking the brave step to venture into livestock production. This is a lifetime investment I would recommend to my fellow youths,” she said.

Mildred said that the Kisumu County government had once donated the Galla goat breed to some of its residents, and she realized that quite a few people were interested in the animal. That’s when she saw a business opportunity.

Armed with the Sh70,000, she started looking for customers to place their orders and then traveled to Kiserian in Kajiado County in search of goats.

In 2021, Mildred bought a piece of land in Katito, strategically located in a place with plenty of bushes and shrubs for the goats to graze.

She employed four herdsmen, a vet, and an animal health officer to look after the goats.

While most of her clients are butchers, farmers, and individuals looking for meat for special occasions, she has bought another three acres to support the growing goat population.
