A 32-year old man was lynched by angry mob over alleged burglary at Agulo bridge within Maguje village, Kanyacha Kachar Location in Homa Bay town constituency last evening.
The deceased Peter Ochieng was beaten to death by the mob after he was found in possession of assorted household items suspected to have been stolen from various homesteads in the area.
Confirming the incident, the area chief Bernard Omuga says that Ochieng who hails Otaro village in the neighboring Kobuola Kogwang’ Sub Location was beaten using crude weapons before dying on the spot.
The administrator says that the deceased had hidden the stolen items in the thicket suspected to have been stolen in the area three days ago but unfortunately he met the wrath of the public when he went to collect the items from where he hid them.
He says that some of the items which were recovered include two tins of groundnuts, two thermo flasks, a bag of assorted plumbing tools among other items.
Omuga calls upon members of the public to desist from taking law into their hands by killing suspects.
Body was moved to Homa Bay Referral mortuary.
