A section of ODM party officials in Siaya County have supported calls on National Assembly and the Senate to pass the BBI Bill as it is.
Led by the ODM party’s acting chairman for Siaya County Mr. George Oloo Okanda, the officials stated that the current differences that are being witnessed among the top party leaders regarding the matter of BBI is not healthy at all.
They have therefore impressed upon ODM MPs in both the National Assembly and the Senate to stop unnecessary differences over the BBI Bill and pass it so that Kenyans can proceed to the much awaited referendum.
They were speaking in Siaya town where the ODM party Alego/Usonga branch organizing secretary Paul Jura lamented that the differences were only creating confusion amongst the party members at the grassroots level.
He argues that there is no way that a section of the lawmakers can now start pushing for amendments of the BBI draft Bill when they are the same people who has earlier told Kenyans that the Bill would not require any amendments once approved by at least 24 county assemblies.
On their part, ODM Alego/Usonga branch vice chairman Thomas Okoth Rondo and the organizing secretary of the branch women league Seline Oyoo equally pleaded with them the National Assembly and the Senate to pass the Bill to sustain the peace and unity that this country has enjoyed since after the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga.
