Kenya Sugar Plantation and Allied Workers Union under the leadership of secretary Francis Wangara has insisted that no matter how hard it is, Chemelil Sugar Company has to be disbanded since it has been unable to pay its workers. He said that the company has failed in its duties and since it started functioning, it owes its workers a total of Ksh. 1.5 billion.

Wangara says that most of the Chemelil Sugar Company workers are going to remain with their children at home since they cannot afford to pay school fees. He therefore said that the company should try and pay its workers or else they will be forced to frog match the manager of the company out since he is incapable of running the company.

He went ahead to say that the company leadership tends to disrespect some workers since other workers like farmers and transporters are paid on time while other workers are not paid monthly. He finished by saying that since the company started operating last year, it has never paid its employees fully but just keeps on owing them arrears.
