The National Government has declared that they have put in place better strategies of boosting the security of lake Victoria. The government plans to use new technology and machines in the process.
This was declared by the Permanent Secretary in the State Department for Shipping and Maritime, Nancy Karigithu when she attended the Kisumu Maritime Summit.
“For the longest time, we’ve had law enforcement for land, but the difference between security whether on land or water, is that one is brown and another is blue. we therefore all need security and that brought me to the launch of Kenya Coast guard services,” she said.
Nancy stated that they plan to use new technology machines to monitor the activities in the lake, a move that she said will not cost the government a fortune.
Lastly, she urged people living around the lake and those working in the lake to help the government in taking care of the lake.
the meeting was attended by Kisumu County governor Prof. Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o among other leaders.
