A couple from Sigulu village, Ruri East sub-location, Suba-North sub-county Homabay county are being held at Mbita police station following the murder of their 26 year old daughter who has been sick for some time.
The couple were arrested on Monday morning after they appeared at Ogongo police post to report the death of their daughter identified as Evelyne Akoth Otieno who has been suffering from a mysterious disease.
Police reports indicate that the lady had a deep wound in the neck, an indication that she was cut using a sharp object. The lady’s father said that they were woken up by noise from the house and when they got to her room, they found her body lying on a pool of blood.
According to Mbita sub-county DCI commandant Philip Sang’, the couple cleaned the pool of blood that their daughter’s body was lying before reporting to the police. He went ahead to say that at the time that the lady died, there were no indications that the door was broken that could give an impression that she was killed by outsiders and this therefore left the parents as the prime suspects of the murder.
He finished saying that the two will be held at Mbita police station as investigations continue to find the truth behind the death of the lady whose body has been transferred to Kirindo mortuary.
