A team of detectives is investigating the murder of a woman whose body was found dumped at the City Park, Parklands in Nairobi.
Police say the woman who has been identified as Rosemary Shikoku, 35 was on Sunday found dead at the park.
Her hands had been tied with a rope to the back and she had injuries on the face.
A man who had ventured to the park spotted the body and informed the police.
Police said a bag suspected to be her luggage containing an identification waiting card and police abstract issued at Kamukunji police station was found next to the body.
Also found in the bag were assorted clothing beside her body.
Police said the murder seemed to have been committed elsewhere and the body was transported to the scene as no blood was oozing from the inflicted injuries.
The scene was also not disturbed to indicate the murder happened there, Nairobi police boss Adamson Bungei said.
Detectives are investigating a murder in the incident. They want to know where the woman was killed.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy.
The motive of the murder is yet to be known and no arrest has been made so far, police said.
Meanwhile, police are investigating an incident in which a garbage collector was stabbed and killed in an attack by a rival group in Nairobi’s Dandora area.
Dandora hosts the city’s dumping site and most collectors operate there.
Control of dumping sites within the huge place is lucrative and at times turns violent and deadly among the operators.
On Monday, March 4, police said one Alex Mwendwa was stabbed and rushed to Mama Lucy hospital with multiple injuries where he succumbed.
Police said the deceased was at his friend’s house within Baraka Mowlem when they were attacked by a group of garbage collectors over the territory wars.
The victims raised alarm and one suspect was chased and caught by a mob who beat him up before the police saved him.
He was taken to hospital pending interrogation and probe into the murder. Police said they hope to arrest more suspects in the murder probe.
A major operation is planned at the dump site as part of the probe into the murder
