TRUE; THERE IS FEAR AMONG EXPECTANT MOTHERS SEEKING HEALTH SERVICES FROM HOSPITALS
As the Covid 19 pandemic continues to wreck havoc among Kenyans, there is still more to be done in the health sector, more so to the pregnant women who are facing many challenges on how to access maternal health care at this time.
This came out as a result of the spread and fear of Covid 19 in the country.
Many of those pregnant women fear going to health facilities for check-ups since they are afraid of contacting the disease.
They say that it’s hard for them to visit such places due to their conditions in regards to pregnancy.
This is a fact as Community Health Workers are saying that many of those women are now sorting help from local midwives whom they say can help them check their status as compared to hospitals where they say may expose them to the risk of contracting the virus.
Some women too are now just crossing their fingers that since they’ve not been on check, they just hope that all will be well at the time of delivery.
The continuous spread of the Virus has led to many fears among women, more so the expectant mothers who feel that their condition cannot allow them be in public places and mingle with the general public to avoid getting the disease.
In as much as the government is trying by all means to curb the daily raising numbers of positive cases, more still needs to be done from both ends to help fight the virus, which made the W.H.O to have some concerns on the recent rapid rise of cases in the country.
We checked in some of our local hospitals and found out that the number of expectant mothers going for checkup has declined rapidly.
