A 25 year old woman and her one year old child were saved yesterday at night by traffic police and journalist who were on duty at the police roadblock in Kendu Bay town. The woman identified as Millicent Awino says that she was walking from Homabay Hospital where she was sent to buy medicine worth Ksh. 1800 an amount that she could not afford.

The woman underwent Laparatomy surgery and still had a wound but since she could not get how to survive, she had to engage in different jobs to get how to survive with her child. She explained that her husband died in April this year and therefore she has no ways of taking care of herself and that’s why she started walking from Homabay heading to Mberere in Nandi county where her sister resides so that she could get how to help herself.

Millicent says that she asked for help from drivers who dropped her in the middle of the night and she had no where to go and she therefore decided to walk towards the police officers who were manning the roadblock at Kendubay town.

Joel Saitoti and Douglass Michoma who are police officers together with journalists Dave Opiyo of Sky fm, James Okoth of TV 47 and Steve Biko of Radio Lake Victoria collected funds that night and took the woman to a Hospital in Kendu Bay where they left her in the hands of health officers.
