A RESEARCHER KILLED BY A HIPPO

A 25 year old female researcher has been attacked and killed by a hippo at Utajo beach in Rusinga East Location, Suba North Sub-County Homabay County. The lady identified as Mitchelle Indihazi who hails from Trans Nzoia County has been doing research on the spread of HIV/AIDS along the beaches for instance Mfangano Island where she met her death yesterday evening.

According to Rusinga East Location chief Daniel Mboya Owuor, Mitchelle and her fellows arrived at Mfangano Island four days ago to do research on the spread of HIV along the beaches in the island. He said that the lady’s death happened just after the hippo emerged from a bush next to the beach and attacked her. Her counterparts either managed to run to safety.

The late Mitchelle’s body has been transferred to Kirindo nursing home by police from Mbita police station.
