Election Reporting

The Media Council of Kenya has started training journalists in preparation for next year’s general elections. Speaking to journalists after the meeting which was held at a hotel in Kisumu, the Media Council chairperson Maina Muiruri said that they have taken the initiative of early preparation in the media team months before the elction so as to ensure that election reporting goes on well without biasness.
Maina used the opportunity to remind journalists to always be neutral and refrain from being biased in their work, including using their social media handles by following rules that guide their operations.
Government spokesperson Rtd. Col. Cyrus Oguna said that they are working hand in hand with the Media Council to ensure that peace is maintained during the elction period and no violence witnessed.
Oguna went ahead to request journalists to refrain from taking sides and theyb should inform the public without bias.
