Four suspects have been arrested along Nanyuki road in Lunga Lunga Nairobi as they were found repacking government fertilizer meant for subsidy alongside relief food on foreign bags.
Nairobi Police Commander Adamson Bungei said they were informed about the activities before they staged a raid late night on Wednesday, where upon the raiding, they recovered 1360 bags of rice, 200 bags of maize and 50,000 bags of subsidized fertilizer which were yet to be repackaged.
This comes after eight suspects were arrested in Mombasa by the Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) headquarters on May 26 after more than 4,000 bags of fertilizer worth more than Sh16 million went missing at the warehouse in Mombasa which were to be destined in some parts of Western and North Rift.
This was confirmed by the Warehouse officials who said that they dispatched ten lorries each carrying 560 of 50 kilos of fertilizer between April 28 and May 25th only to realize that some bags were missing.
According to Mr. Bungei, the DCI will work hand in hand with the police from jurisdiction to investigate on the matter to unveil the whole syndicate, while the suspects will be arraigned in court once the investigations are finalized.
