A middle-aged woman has been admitted to Naivasha Level 4 hospital, after her estranged husband splashed boiling water on her, and stabbed her abdomen with a knife.
The bizarre incident occurred at Kayole estate, leaving the victims’ internal organs hanging out while her back was left covered in burns.
According to Pauline Wanjiku, her husband, who is a former AP officer now working with Nakuru County government has since gone into hiding.
She claims the assailant had been threatening her family.
Speaking from her hospital bed, Wanjiku said the county enforcement worker arrived home drunk, boiled water and without provocation splashed it on her, after an argument.
The small scale trader in Naivasha town said that she was rescued by neighbors. She is now in fear as the suspect, who had also sought treatment in the hospital had escaped.
Wanjiku’s mother Regina Njeri said it was not the first time he had attacked the victim.
Peter Njihia, a brother to the victim termed the suspect as very dangerous person especially when drunk, adding that he had been arrested in the past on several occasions.
According to John Kinuthia from Naivasha Gender Based Networking Cluster, they have recorded over ten cases of gender violence since the year began.
Gender Based activists have raised their concern over an upsurge in cases of domestic violence in the town with informal settlements being the most affected.
