Homa Bay Women Representative Joyce Osogo popularly known as Bensouda has joined the race to replace Governor Gladys Wanga as the next Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Homa Bay chairperson.
This is after the position was left vacant after the Raila Odinga-led party appointed Governor Wanga to become the national chairperson replacing John Mbadi after he joined the cabinet as the new National Treasury Cabinet Secretary.
Osogo has expressed confidence that she has what it takes to be the next ODM chairperson in Homa Bay.
“I succeeded her as Woman Representative when she became governor. I have been running the office well. I think I can equally take over the position of chairperson in Homa Bay after Governor Wanga,” she said.
The Homa Bay Women rep wants the position to be filled by a woman since the former office holder was also a woman.
“I do not see anyone better than me. I had promised Governor Wanga that I will ensure her legacy as a Woman Rep both in politics and development continues,” she added.
Osogo is sate to face at least three lawmakers including Ndiwa MP Martin Owino in the race to succeed Wanga in the position.
