Millie Odhiambo Demands For Aoko’s Release

Written by on August 18, 2024

Suba North Member of Parliament Millie Odhiambo has called for the release of social media enthusiast Maverick Aoko.

In a statement on Sunday, Millie said Aoko is notorious for creating stories to defame politicians and other people online and at even one time abused her for being childless.

“There is a lady called Aoko who is notorious for creating/ imagining/spicing up stories and/or defaming politicians and abusing people online. She at one time created such a story about me and derided me and my husband for being childless. I contemplated taking her to court, but someone brought to my attention other facts about her not in the public domain and so I dropped the case,” said Millie.

The ODM MP however noted that Aoko’s sentiments are not serious and should be set free by the police.

Millie vowed to defend the constitutional rights of all people especially women, regardless of whether I agree with their life’s philosophy or not.

“I have seen online that she was apparently abducted and has been detained for allegedly maligning the President. Despite the fact that I do not think much of her, she has constitutional rights that must be protected. The issues she is being accused of are very mundane that do not require any serious investigations. The police should immediately release her and charge her when they are ready,” she added.

Aoko was arrested on Friday by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

The controversial social media enthusiast was picked up from her house and taken to custody for grilling over her posts.

She is set to be arraigned in court on Monday, August 19, 2024.
